PROJECT IF Life Blog: Missouri Mission

July 25-31, 2017

Our Dear Friends and Family,

This morning, I walked into a small town Missouri McDonald’s. As I sat down with my work, I thought how exasperating it is that the entire restaurant always stares so freely and intensely at you in some parts of the country, when out of nowhere I feel someone grab the shirt from underneath my armpit. An elderly woman, holding my shirt turns, and says, “Herb, grab the knife.”

I had a piece of plastic almost an inch long leftover from the tag on my shirt, which has been removed courtesy of Herb.

This week has been great: We were invited to the Mo. Senate floor to hear the debate surrounding what is being called the most important pro-life legislation in two decades. The bill was in response to St. Louis seeking to become the U.S.’s first abortion sanctuary. It would have prevented religious groups from printing pro-life materials, while also requiring pro-life groups to provide the same services to abortive women that they do to women that choose life. While we were on the Senate floor, Anna was introduced as a special guest, and we met several pro-life Senators that were fighting for their bill. It passed!

We had our first visitors of the Eastern Half! We met with Natalie Marmon and Brooke Bowen in Sedalia. They were super instrumental in the launch last year and have continued to be such an encouragement. We had so much fun catching up with them and telling stories about the first half of the run.

Our Aunt Julia was kind enough to come cheer Anna on in Jefferson City and to host us for dinner. She has been such a faithful prayer warrior throughout this project!

I got to speak with Mindy Tebow, the Director of Life for the International House of Prayer. She is such an encouraging, courageous woman. Look for her profile later this week!

Megan has been keeping up with the media end of things. We were featured in the Unterrified Democrat, which gets its name from its protest against slavery during the Civil War. They continue to carry the torch featuring issues like aiding the unborn.

It’s still been smoking hot outside! It was a 110-degree heat index, yesterday, but the heat finally broke with a violently lovely Midwest thunderstorm.

All our love,

Sarah-Marie Hoduski
